Mumbai, Jul 4 (TOI): In a massive drive against illegal hawkers, the BMC took action against 14,764 vendors across all 24 wards in the city between June 1 and 26.
The drive focused on clearing illegal hawkers from outside railway stations, including CST, Churchgate, Dadar, Andheri and Borivli.
During the drive, the maximum number of illegal hawkers—1,176—was cleared from A ward, which covers areas in CST and Churchgate, followed by G North ward, which covers Dadar and Matunga—where 1,405 illegal hawkers were cleared. Among the areas where the least number of illegal hawkers were cleared—120—included F North ward, which covers areas in Wadala, Matunga and Sion, and R South ward, which covers Kandivli and Charkop.
