Man held for attacking former Bihar minister alleges sexual abuse

Patna, July 4 (IANS): A man who was arrested on Saturday for stabbing former Bihar minister Ejaz-ul-Haq, here, alleged that the latter had been forcing him to indulge in sex and he attacked him to take vengeance, police said.

Haq, a close relative of jailed criminal-turned-politician and former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, was stabbed in his flat late Friday and admitted to a private hospital.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Vikas Vaibhav said a police team has arrested Raghvendra Kumar, the accused, from the neighbouring Bhojpur district.

"Raghvendra was arrested with the weapon he used to stab Haq and a revolver stolen from Haq," he said.

Police have begun an investigation into the case, Vaibhav said.

"I was fed up with his demands... I attacked him on Friday night when he tried to sexually exploit me again," Kumar informed police during interrogation.

He also told police that he had known Haq for several years.

Haq was minister in the cabinet of former chief minister Rabri Devi between 2000 and 2005.
