Eunuch leader shot dead in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, July 4 (IANS): An eunuch leader in Ghaziabad who had contested parliamentary, legislative and mayoral elections was on Saturday found murdered at her residence, police said.

Daya Rani Kinnar was found on Saturday morning with a bullet hole in her head when one of her assistants went to serve her tea in her room in the house in Kaila Bhatta area.

Police said Daya Rani Kinnar was the owner of extensive property, including a house, a car and jewellery, and the robbery aspect has not been ruled out.

Family sources said she retired to her bedroom around 11 p.m. on Friday.

On Saturday morning, when her assistant Shama went to her bedroom to serve tea, she found her body. Shama's niece Geeta then called police.

The body was sent for autopsy, and police personnel were deployed at the residence.

The eunuch's house has CCTV cameras, and the footage was being viewed to find any clue to the murder.

Fingerprints have also been taken from inside the house, police said.

"The window of her bedroom was found open. Probably the assailant used a weapon with a silencer due to which no one could hear the shot," said Superintendent of Police (City) Ajay Pal.

Scores of eunuchs reached the spot as the news of the murder spread.
