Panaji, May 10: MP Churchill Alemao's resignation will not have any impact on the Congress, Goa Chief Minister Pratap Singh Rane said on Wednesday.
"He was going, going, going and now finally gone. I would not like to comment on his actions as he is a member of Parliament," Rane told reporters here.
Alemao, a former chief minister, on Tuesday tendered his resignation from primary membership of Congress and also from the Lok Sabha to contest the June two assembly elections as a candidate of Save Goa Democratic Front, a regional party.
Alemao resigned after criticising the Rane-led government for almost a year, blaming the Congress for backing projects that went against the people.
He had strongly opposed the state government's plans for Special Economic Zones, an international airport at Mopa and other projects.
"Progress or winds of change cannot be halted by anything. The world is changing and we have to keep up with the changes. We have to be one step ahead," Rane said, rubbishing Alemao's criticism of all the projects undertaken by his government.
"He was not criticising me... He was against developmental projects," Rane said while replying to a question.
"Economic development is more important for me than criticising anybody. Whatever statements I make, I do it after a proper study," he said.
