Eurogroup ministers expect new proposals from Greece

Brussels, July 6 (IANS): Finance ministers from eurozone countries are expecting new proposals from Greece in Tuesday talks, the Eurogroup said in a statement on Monday.

"The Eurogroup will discuss the situation following the referendum in Greece that was held on July 5," the statement read. "Ministers expect new proposals from the Greek authorities," it added.

Eurogroup head Jeroen Dijsselbloem also expressed his displeasure about the referendum result, saying the result was "very regrettable for the future of Greece", Xinhua news agency reported.

"The Greek referendum is not bringing us closer to a solution," Dijsselbloem told Dutch media on Monday.

Earlier last week, Dijsselbloem warned Greece that it was likely to "have no place in the eurozone" if the “No” vote prevailed in Sunday's referendum.

"One illusion must be swept from the table: that if the outcome is negative, then everything can be renegotiated and you will end up with an easier and more attractive package," said Dijsselbloem.
