Panaji, May 11: Sensing mischief in `abnormally high' sale of two-wheelers during run-up to the elections, the election commission (EC) of India has directed the Goa chief electoral officer to file an FIR with the police department, officials stated.

"The FIR will be filed against unknown persons; however, detailed investigations will be able to establish the linkage with the prospective candidates," official release from CEO's office mentioned here.

The central election commission has directed CEO to file an FIR with police under section 171-B of IPC for offences of alleged bribing the voters, officials stated. Interestingly, the election commission records reveal that around 700 two-wheelers were sold in last one week which is much above the normal sale, officials stated.

Goa state legislative assembly elections would be held on June two and the coastal state is abuzz with electioneering.

The election commission has also directed that the  investigations may be supervised by a Senior Police functionary of the rank of a deputy superintendent of police, officials stated.
