Mangalore, May 11: ‘Nammura Jathre – 2007’, a state level cultural and sports meet will be organized at Meenakaliya Youngsters’ Maidan here on Saturday May 12 and Sunday May 13.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday May 10, Youngster’s Panumbur, Baikampady president Ramachander Baikampady said that the event will be inaugurated by Dr Mohan Alva, president, Alva Education Trust.

Nearly 6 special batches and 18 batches of women will be participating in the event.

On May 12 the program will begin with a magic show by Kudroli Ganesh in which he will go in a procession blind-folded to Baikampady. MLA Yogish Bhat will preside over the programme. The chief guests will be mayor Vijaya Arun, state Tulu Sahitya Academy president M K Sitaram Kulal and former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, he said.

There will also be a tug-of-war competition in which famous batches from Kasargod and different districts of the state will participate. District in charge minister Nagaraj Shetty will preside and agriculture minister D T Jayakumar, MLA Krishna Palemar, ZP president Sushma Janardhan and actress Jaya Mala are expected to attend the programme.

Association president Nagesh Salian, working president Gangadhar and treasurer Jayaraj Salian were present at the press meet.
