Adopt joint strategy to check price rise: Haryana minister

New Delhi, July 7 (IANS): Haryana on Tuesday urged the central government to adopt a multi-pronged strategy to check rise in prices of essential commodities.

Haryana Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ram Bilas Sharma told a meeting here of the food and civil supplies ministers of the various states, presided over by union Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, that the strategy to check price rise included maintaining equilibrium between demand and supply of essential commodities and, if required, import of these items.

He said the National Food Security Act, 2013 has been enforced in Haryana since January 2014.

Favouring a joint strategy on production, supply and distribution of essential commodities between the Centre and the states, Sharma stressed the need to increase production to check rising prices.
