Snag hits Delhi Metro

New Delhi, July 7 (IANS): Delhi Metro commuters faced a harrowing time on Tuesday when a technical snag affected services on one of its lines, causing trains to run slow and halt for several minutes at many stations resulting in overcrowding.

Operations on the Blue Line, which operates from Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida City Centre/Vaishali, were affected around 11.50 a.m. when the trains were "unable to attain their average speed", a Delhi Metro official told IANS.

"The speed, thus, had to be reset from our operation control centre," the official said. While the troubleshooting took around 5-7 minutes, it led to bunching of trains.

Delhi Metro carries approximately 25 lakh people every day on its network with the Blue Line being one of the busiest.
