Ghaziabad public schools get notice

Ghaziabad, July 7 (IANS): Nearly 200 public schools here have been asked whether or not they have reserved a quarter of all seats for children from poor families. The defaulters will face the music.

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) issued notice to 193 public schools in the city that got land at concessional rates.

GDA Officer on Special Duty Gyanendra Verma said notice was served following Supreme Court directives.

The notice seeks detailed information from the schools, including about reservation of 25 percent of seats for children from poor families who also have to pay only 50 percent of the school fees.

"After receiving the information, we will initiate legal action against defaulters," Verma said.
