New Delhi, July 7 (IANS): Delhi will have five mega labs for pathological examinations by the end of this year, Health Minister Satyendra Jain said on Tuesday.
The minister also said Delhi's first 'neighbourhood clinic' will start functioning by next week in east Delhi.
The Arvind Kejriwal government had earmarked Rs.125 crore for opening 1,000 neighbourhood clinics in the budget presented last month.
"The first neighbourhood clinic would be ready by next week in Peeragarhi in east Delhi," said Jain, who visited the clinic with Deputy Chief Minster Manish Sisodia on Tuesday.
"The government is trying to set up neighbourhood clinics in slum areas, unauthorised colonies and villages. The health department is aiming to improve services and reduce pressure on OPDs of existing hospitals and dispensaries," he added.
He said these clinics will help help ease the burden on government hospitals.
