Mangalore, May 12: Addressing a public meet on Nandigram incident at a programme organized by the Dakshina Kannada district CPI (M) committee member Nithyanand Swamy accused that Trinamool Congress motivated the people and indulged in false propagation against the government in West Bengal.
He was speaking at discussion on Nandigram issue here on Friday May 11. He added that those who were upset with the development of West Bengal were involved in provoking people against West Bengal government which eventually resulted in the Singoor and Nandigram violence.
Swamy informed that the government was ready to give maximum compensation to those who have lost land in the acquisition process. Though the government held several public meets to decide on the compensation, Trinamool Congress always boycotted such meetings.
The forces which were in opposition to land reforms, rights to tenants and panchayat raj system were propagating against the West Bengal government. Congress government in the centre is following step-motherly treatment towards the development of West Bengal from the beginning, he said.
In Singoor Tata Motors were eager to set up a car manufacturing unit. With the setting up of the unit many other ancillary units would come up, thus generating employment to the local.
The centre had also given its permission for the setting up of chemical hub in Nandigram. Before the government could come into negotiations with the public, Trinamool Congress created false propagation and created confusion in the minds of the people, he opined.
Party leaders Ramachandra Ucchila, K R Sriyan, Balakrishna Shetty , and B Madhava were also present during the meet.
