Mangalore, May 12: A Music competition will be organized by All India Radio (AIR) to identify people with talents in singing and encourage them.
The competitions will be held in two stages. The preliminary competition will be held at concerned AIR stations while in the second round the competition for Hindustani music will be organized at New Delhi and for Carnatic music it will be held at Chennai, a press release stated.
Along with the application form, the candidates must send a money order for Rs 100 to the station director. The candidates must be above 16 years and below 24 years of age, as on June 30. Those who have already undergone voice test at Air and are graded as artistes cannot apply.
The categories in Carnatic music include Carnatic classical, light music and folk songs, whereas in Hindustani music, classical and light music are included. Apart from this, there will be competitions in Carnatic and Hindustani musical instruments and chorus singing. The preliminary round will be held from Monday August 13 to Friday august 31. Those who qualify in this round will enter into the second round, and those selected in the second round will be presented awards.
The last date to apply is on Friday June 15. Applications forms can be availed from the nearest AIR stations and the filled in applications must reach the station within June 15, the press release noted. The last date to apply is on Friday June 15.
