Lucknow, July 8 (IANS): The multi-crore-rupee riverfront development work on the Gomti, in the heart of the Uttar Pradesh capital, was on Wednesday reviewed by top state officials.
Seeking surety from the developers that the project would be completed on time, Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Alok Ranjan asked officials to ensure that the silt taken out from the river bed does not find its way back during the monsoon.
The bureaucrat also expressed displeasure over the delay in starting the solid waste management plant and instructed officials to ensure that it commences in one week.
He directed that 24-hour, shift-wise work should be conducted to expedite the remaining development work on the riverfront.
Deepal Singhal, principal secretary for irrigation, assured Ranjan that the silt and sludge dug out from the river bed will not flow back into the river.
