Two IS suspects arrested in Malaysia


Kuala Lumpur, Jul 9 (IANS): Two people suspected of having links with the Islamic State (IS) terror group were arrested here on Thursday, police said.

According to a police statement, both the people have held meetings in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to plan attacks on the country, Channel News Asia reported.

The first suspect from Kuala Lumpur was arrested on July 2. The 28-year-old is believed to have been in touch with IS members in Europe, who had instructed him to plan attacks in the Klang Valley and the capital city.

The second suspect is a 31-year-old from Kuala Lumpur, who returned to Malaysia after sustaining injuries while fighting with the militant group in Syria, the statement said.
