Gadkari announces coastal highway in Odisha


Bhubaneswar, July 9 (IANS): Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said the government will construct a coastal highway connecting Gopalpur in Odisha with Digha in West Bengal as a national highway.

This will help the authorities to engage in efficient rescue and relief operation during cyclones, he said after inaugurating the national highway 316 to connect Bhubaneswar and Puri.

It is estimated that Rs.5,000 crore would be spent on the 500-km coastal highway.
