Model science labs to be set up across northeast

New Delhi, July 9 (IANS): Encouraging students to learn sciences beyond the classrooms, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Thursday said model science laboratories will be established in all districts of northeastern states.

These science labs would be set up as part of the second phase of the ministry's Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) that aims to inculcate a spirit of inquiry, creativity and love for science and mathematics among school children.

RAA was launched here on Thursday by former president A.P.J Abdul Kalam.

Irani, who underwent thyroid surgery earlier this week and addressed the gathering through video conferencing, said: "It is an effort to take forward the prime minister's vision of Digital India, Make in India and Teach in India."
