Senior Citizen Dies in Accident

Mangalore, May 14: An 80 –year-old woman was killed after she was knocked down by a motorcycle on the Palimar-Karneere Padu Guthu road under Mulki police station limits near here on Sunday May 13.

According to police Appi Poojarthy was walking on the side of the road when a biker, Chandrahas, recklessly rode towards the extreme left side of the road and knocked her down..

She was immediately taken to the hospital.  But she succumbed to injuries on the way.  Mulki police have registered a case in this regard.

Illegally Transported Wooden Logs Seized

Personnel of the Bantwal rural police station stopped a van at Kotekani Sajipanadu village in Bantwal taluk and seized 28 wooden logs that were allegedly being transported illegally.  The raid was conducted after receiving credible tip-off.

The police arrested the driver of the vehicle, Bashir from Kolake Sajipanadu village in Bantwal taluk, and seized the vehicle.

The total value of logs seized is estimated at Rs 1.6 lac. A case has been filedat the Bantwal rural police station under the Karnataka Forest Act.

Theft in Temple at Subrahmanya

Some unidentified miscreants gained entry into Adamangala Shri Panchalingeshwara temple in Subrahmanya on Friday May 11 in the night and decamped with alms boxes.

According to police, a sum of around Rs 8,000 was stolen from the temple. The thieves gained entry into the temple with the help of the pole that was erected at the time of the feast.

They broke-open the boxes with the help of the iron rods and decamped with the money.

A case has been registered.
