Church vandalised in Bengal's Nadia district

Kolkata, Jul 11 (IANS): Unidentified miscreants allegedly vandalised a church in West Bengal's Nadia district early on Friday, church officials said.

"The box in which prayer materials are kept have been broken and its contents thrown out," said Saint Thomas Catholic Church governing body member Dipak Mondal.

The church is located in the Taherpur police station area of the district.

Though nothing was stolen, the church caretaker on Friday night found the main door locked on Thursday night open.

However, a police officer said investigation was on to find whether it was only a case of attempted theft or whether there was more to it.
