Jul 11, (PTI): A police officer has been arrested for allegedly raping a domestic help in Delhi. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Jagveer Singh who was posted in West Delhi's Punjabi Bagh police station allegedly raped his friend's domestic help under the influence of alcohol.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the accused, after which he was arrested and produced before the Court yesterday. He has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said, "We will not wait for a departmental enquiry. He will be dismissed. Any violence against a woman will not be tolerated."
The ASI has been accused of going to his friend's place in Rani Bagh area, where he allegedly raped the domestic help on Thursday night.
Yesterday, the 23 year old woman approached the police and was sent for medical examination which confirmed the rape, according to police officials.
