MP Journalist burnt to death says post-mortem report

Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh), 11 July (IANS): The post-mortem report of Madhya Pradesh journalist Sandeep Kothari's death has revealed that he was burnt alive, police said here on Saturday.

Sandeep was abducted from Katangi in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh on June, 19. Later, his body was found on the railway tracks in Wardha district of Maharasthra. While there is much speculation about Sandeep's death, the post-mortem report on Friday has put an end to all doubts.

"Sandeep was smothered to death and when he was being burnt, he was unconscious but breathing. Traces of carbon particles has been found in his lungs," Police Superintendent Gaurav Tiwari told IANS.

"Seven people have been arrested in connection with Sandeep's murder and a special investigation team (SIT) has also been formed to probe into the murder," Tiwari added.

According to media reports, Sandeep's murder occurred due to the case he had filed against illegal mining. His stories on manganese mafia were also published.
