Mob tries to rough up MP, torches vehicle in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 11 (IANS): A mob on Saturday tried to rough up a Rajya Sabha member of the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, and torched a vehicle belonging to his supporters, police said.

A police source said Nazir Ahmad Laway had gone to Bugam village to inspect a school, when the mob arrived.

"The mob locked the school and attempted to rough up the MP. His guards rescued him and escorted him out of area," the police source told IANS.

The mob then pelted stones at the security forces and torched a vehicle belonging to one of the MP's supporters who had accompanied him.
