Kerala minister asks DGP to probe officer's misconduct

Thiruvananthapuram, July 12 (IANS): Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday said state police chief will look into the issue of protocol breach by Additional Director General of Police Rishiraj Singh at a function attended him in Thrissur.

Rishiraj Singh was accused of disrespecting Chennithala by not standing up when the minister arrived at the Police Academy in Thrissur on Saturday for the passing out parade of policewomen.

"The DGP (T.P. Senkumar) appears to be in a spot, will have to look into if there was a breach of protocol and a lack of respect," said Chennithala.

"I being a public personality, I do not have complaints against anyone and let the DGP look into it," he told reporters when asked if Rishiraj Singh has violated protocol by not standing up.

The incident has become an issue of debate in the social media after pictures of Rishiraj Singh sitting in rapt attention unmindful of the presence of Chennithala went viral.
