Jul 13, (Emirates 247): Haven't we heard the old adage that "age is just a number"?

Well, here's a proof.

Meet Johanna Quaas, at 86 (born in 1925) she is the oldest active gymnast in the world.

Quaas is a regular competitor in the amateur competition Landes-Seniorenspiele, staged in Saxony, Germany.

She performed a floor-and-beam routine on the set of 'Lo Show dei Record' in Rome, Italy, on 12 April 2012, where her record was certified.

Quaas, who in 2012 made her way into Guinness World Record book as the world's oldest active gymnast, on Saturday presented with the Nadia Comaneci Sportsmanship Award by the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame at the Petroleum Club in Oklahoma City.

"It is a great feeling to be in the Guinness World Records book,” Quaas said in 2012. “I really love it that special and extreme people are being recognized. I hope my record inspires others to realize it's never too late to try something new."
