Mangalore, May 16: A six-day summer camp from May 14 to 19 is being held in the Urban Health Centre, Mullerkad, which is a field practice area of the Department of Community Medicine, Father Muller Medical College, Kankanady, Mangalore.

This camp is attended by students, 40 girls and 34 boys, studying from 5th class to 10th class. Training is given by trained teachers from Mangalore. It is conducted free of cost, serving the students of backward areas like Kavoor, Shantinagar, Mullerkad, Konchadi, Kunjatbail and others.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr B Sanjeev Rai, dean, Father Muller Medical College. In his speech he stressed that such camps provided physical training through entertainment which would go a long way in the prevention of lifestyle disorders.

FMMC administrator Fr Denis D'Sa, who presided over the function, said that this programme was arranged to provide a platform for the students to exhibit their talents and to promote a spirit of harmony and brotherhood.

Dr S B Rotti, professor and head welcomed the gathering. Mohini compered the programme and a vote of thanks was given by Dr K S Prasanna, associate professor.
