Car bomb kills 33 in Afghanistan


Kabul, July 13 (IANS): The toll from a car bombing near a NATO base in Afghanistan has risen to 33, a media report said on Monday.

According to sources, the blast occurred on Sunday night in Khost city in a crowded road near the Chapman Camp, which houses the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission forces, Xinhua news agency reported.

"The toll in the suicide car bomb attack which occurred on Sunday evening has increased to 33 which includes 27 civilians, six Afghan security officials," an official statement said.

Twenty-three people -- 12 civilians, 11 security personnel -- were injured, the statement added.

However, no foreign military personnel was injured in the blast.
