Barcelona players undergo medical tests


Barcelona, July 13 (IANS): Barcelona started conducting medical tests for the players who were called up by head coach Luis Enrique for the team's first training session on Monday afternoon ahead of the new season.

After 35 days of vacation, which started following Barcelona's 3-1 victory in the European Champions League final against Juventus, the Catalan football giants began their routine to prepare for the new season by conducting medical tests for the players, repprts Efe.

Gerard Pique, Marc Bartra, Ivan Rakitic, Sergi Roberto, Pedro, Jordi Alba and Aleix Vidal are all expected to join the team on Wednesday.

Other players will return later on, after they fulfill their duties with their respective national teams at the 2015 Copa America in Chile.

Barcelona will be heading to the US next Sunday, a day after the election of the club's new president, to start preparations for the upcoming season.

There, Barcelona will also play friendly games against Los Angeles Galaxy on July 22, Manchester United on July 25 and Chelsea on July 29.
