No problem if Pakistan envoy invites separatists: Omar

New Delhi, July 13 (IANS): Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said he would have no problem if Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit invited separatists for Eid Milan party to be hosted here on July 21.

Interacting with IANS on the sidelines of an Iftar party hosted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi here, Abdullah said the earlier instance of cancelling talks with Pakistan because separatists were invited to the Pakistan National Day function "was an instance of government reacting very poorly".

"The earlier instance of cancelling talks because they (separatists) were invited for a cup of tea was an instance of government reacting very poorly," Omar said.

"This is normal and how it should be," he added.

Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit told IANS earlier in the day there was "nothing unusual about our invite to Hurriyat leaders".
