Onlooker takes selfie at road crash site

London, July 14 (IANS): An onlooker was caught taking a selfie at a scene of a car crash near Central London even as the emergency services battled to rescue the victim.

The man was seen holding his iPhone aloft as he posed for the picture on a bridge over the North Circular in Barnet with the multiple-vehicle pile-up clearly visible in the background, Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

He has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.

Emergency services battled for more than an hour on Monday to rescue the victim -- a 19-year-old woman who was trapped in her Peugeot 206 car with a leg injury after two lorries and a car smashed into each other.

A 48-year-old man, driving one of the lorries, registered to an overseas company, was arrested for reckless driving.
