Maoists abduct four policemen in Chhattisgarh


Raipur/Bijapur, July 14 (IANS): Maoist guerrillas have abducted four police personnel at gun point in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said on Tuesday.

Officials said although the incident happened on Monday night, they got to know about it only on Tuesday.

The abducted men were constables posted at Bedre police station in Bijapur district.

They were identified as Jaydev Yadav, Raju Tela, Mangal Sodhi and Rama Majji.

"As of now, their location is unknown," Bijapur's Superintendent of Police K.L Dhruv said.

The four were travelling to Bedre from Kutru village.

Two of them were in a bus. When it entered a forested area, Maoists boarded it and abducted them. Later, they stopped and kidnapped the other two police personnel who were on a motorcycle.
