BJP MLA gets a year's jail for assaulting home guard


Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), July 14 (IANS): A Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from Madhya Pradesh's Ghattiya assembly constituency was awared one-year jail here on Tuesday for assaulting a home guard and obstructing him from carrying out his duty.

In the incident which took place eight years ago, BJP leader Satish Malviya assaulted home guard Takht Singh, who later filed a case against him.

Malviya on Tuesday was slapped with a fine of Rs.500 and awarded one-year imprisonment by Judicial Magistrate Manoj Sharma. The legislator was later granted bail following his plea.
