Udupi, May 18: Ramnagar, Chikamgalur, Shimoga, Bhadravati and Kushalnagar will soon get engineering colleges, said principal secretary of higher education Kaushik Mukherjee here on Thursday May 17.
Addressing the press persons he said that the government has decided to start five engineering colleges and the colleges will have high standards like the IITs and modern infrastructure with able faculty. The government is also keen on starting 120 colleges, he added.
He was on a visit to Malpe to attend the two-day seminar on technical education quality improvement programme, based on the themes of service t community, economy and networking held under the aegis of Nitte engineering college.
He said that the government has selected 12 private and 2 government colleges for upgradation and has also set aside Rs 176 crore. NIT-K at Suratkal and Nitte Engineering Colleges are the two engineering colleges which come under this scheme.
