Himachal HC seeks report on health facilities

Shimla, July 15 (IANS): The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday directed the state principal secretary for health to file a fresh status report on the facilities and infrastructure available in health centres in the state.

A division bench of Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed the order on a petition filed by advocate Komal Chaudhary.

The petitioner sought adequate medical infrastructure as per the Indian Public Health Standards and prayed to appoint adequate number of specialist doctors in all the health centres and hospitals in the state.

Listing the matter for next hearing on August 4, the high court sought details about the officers entrusted with the job of ensuring availability of life-saving drugs and infrastructure development work.

The bench also directed the secretary health of the central government and the Medical Council of India to file reply and to indicate what steps they have taken to provide assistance to the state for the improvement of health services.
