Modi nod for India-Armenia agreement

New Delhi, July 16 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday gave his approval for the signing and ratification of an agreement between India and Armenia on cooperation in the field of agriculture.

The agreement aims to promote understanding of best agricultural practices in the two countries.

As part of the agreement, short and medium term programmes would be taken up within the framework of joint activities mentioned in the agreement.

The agreement will also provide a framework for the Joint Working Group responsible for elaborating biennial work plans, an agriculture ministry release said on Thursday.

"The biennial work plans will be drawn up by mutual agreement to give effect to the objectives of the agreement," the release said.

The Joint Working Group shall identify areas and forms of cooperation and shall coordinate their implementation. The groups shall meet periodically and alternatively in India and Armenia.
