Mangalore, May 19: Cash award and merit certificates to the winners of a state- level drawing competition, ‘Chiguru-2007’, organized by the city-based Sree Chakrapani school of Arts, Attavar, will be presented in a public function to be held at Town Hall here on Monday May 21.

Almost a thousand students had participated in the state-level drawing contest on post cards. The best among them were screened and the students were invited to participate in an on-the-spot drawing contest held in three categories in the city. The best 9 participants would now receive the cash awards.

This was announced in a press conference by Chiguru convener Satyanarayan Salathoor here on Friday May 18.

‘Sadhana’ and ‘Sadhak’ awards will also be presented to the dedicated drawing teachers. Another award, ‘Santrupthi’ will be presented to the institution, he added.

Vijaya Arun mayor of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) will inaugurate the programme and Dr M Mohan president of Alva’s Education foundation (AEF) would preside over the function. ‘Lalitha Kalamrutha’, a magazine will be released on the occasion, he said.

Suresh K Pandavarakallu director of Institution, trustee Madhav Suvarna, Taranath Kairangal secretary and Sundar Thodar were also present in the press conference.
