NHRC notice over no pension to DTC employees

New Delhi, July 16 (IANS): The NHRC has issued notice to the Delhi government for failing to pay pension to retired employees of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report that about 12,000 retired employees of the DTC have not been paid pension for the last two months, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) asked the secretary of the Delhi government's transport department as well as the DTC chairman to submit a factual report within two weeks.

"Despite having approached the concerned authorities, they (pensioners) have not been getting any satisfactory answers. The commission has observed that the contents of the report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the retired employees of the DTC," the NHRC said in a statement on Thursday.
