Mangalore, May 21: As per the directives issued by state election commission, deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao has  who is also the district magistrate has all licensed firearm holders to deposit their firearms either with licensed firearm dealers or with nearest police station.

This decision was taken in view of the by-election to the Ullal assembly constituency, which would be held on Saturday June 2, an also to maintain law and order.  This was announced by SP B Dayanand in a press release here on Sunday May 20.

Accordingly, all licensed firearm holders in Ullal Assembly constituency, coming under the jurisdictions of Mangalore rural (Kankanady), Ullal, Konaje, Mangalore South (Pandeshwar), Mangalore East (Kadri) and Panambur police station limits, should deposit their firearms at any of the above mentioned places with immediate effect up to Friday June 8.
