New Delhi, Jul 22 (IANS): The union cabinet on Tuesday approved establishment of Rajendra Central Agricultural University at Pusa Samastipur in Bihar by upgrading the existing Rajendra Agricultural University, official sources said.
They said that the existing university will be converted into a national university by strengthening manpower, infrastructure and other facilities at at a cost of Rs.295 crore.
Sources said land will be identified under the university for two more colleges of agriculture. They said the cabinet has also given its in principle approval for setting up a college of veterinary science and horticulture and forestry.
The cabinet decision comes days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on July 25. The state will go for assembly polls later this year.
