Mangalore, May 23: If the voters elect BJP candidate in the Ullal by-election, the party would definitely adopt this constituency for development, said Yadiyurappa, deputy chief minister of the state.

He was speaking at a press conference in the city on Tuesday May 22 evening, after election campaign in the Ullal constituency.

Congress party has used Muslims as vote bank only. It never paid attention for their development. Hence, Muslims should vote for BJP, he requested.

“In the last 15 months, the BJP-JD (S) coalition government has given maximum benefit for all the sections of the state. But Congress is criticizing the government without any base. Now I am ready for an open discussion with Congress leaders, at any forum. Let them accept the challenge,” he said.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Planning Commission have appreciated the economic growth of the state. On the other hand, the state will lose worth Rs 1950 crore owing to arrack abolition and Rs 250 crore owing to lottery abolition. But this would not hinder the economic condition of the state, he assured.

At the same time he blamed the union government for not cooperating to find a solution for sea erosion.

D V Sadananda Gowda, state president of the party, Nagaraj Shetty, district in-charge minister, MLAs Yogish Bhat and Sunil Kumar. MLC Shobha Karandlaje, Chandrashekhar Uchil, BJP candidate for Ullal by-election, Sushma Janardhan, ZP president and Ravindra Maroli were present at the press meet.

Earlier, Yadiyurappa went on campaigning in Ullal constituency through out the day. He met the party workers at about 25 places in the constituency.
