Agency report

New Delhi, May 25: A plane carrying Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje suffered a nosewheel collapse after landing in emergency conditions in New Delhi on Thursday, shutting down the main runway at the IGI airport for over an hour.

No one was injured in the incident, airport sources said, adding all passengers were disembarked on the taxiway by a fleet of emergency vehicles that were on guard.

The pilot of the Beechcraft-100 aircraft, which had taken off for Jaipur around 5:20 pm, suspected hydraulic problem and landed back under full emergency conditions in ten minutes.

After a safe landing, its nosewheel collapsed when it was moving towards the taxiway, they said.

As the entire emergency paraphernalia was standing by, a fleet of vehicles and fire-tenders immediately rushed to the aircraft and helped the passengers disembark.

The main runway remained blocked for about 75 minutes during the peak time, causing severe clogging of the airspace over Delhi. The aircraft was later towed to a remote bay.

Raje, who came here on Wednesday after a five-day visit to the US, the UK and Dubai, was going back to Jaipur with senior government officials who had accompanied her on the trip, state government sources said.
