Jul 25 (Mumbai Mirror): The Ghatkopar police on Friday registered a case of negligence against the management and security of Phoenix Market City mall in Kurla (W) after its security failed to detect police officials who entered the mall in plain clothes with concealed weapons on three occasions.
The management and the security agency of the mall have been booked under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.
Police sources said that three dry runs were conducted at the mall where disguised officials entered the mall with concealed weapons, which were not intercepted by the security.
Crime branch officials conducted their run on June 30, while the Ghatkopar police conducted the other two drills.
"We sent out a letter to the mall authorities three days prior to the first run, alerting them about the weak security at their check-in points. We conducted the second run on Friday, in which we managed to enter the mall with weapons without any deterrence. We have registered the offence in this regard," said Venkat Patil, senior police inspector. The police have not made any arrests in the case so far and are conducting further inquiries.
