Mangalore, May 28: The leading practising Advocate of Mangalore, Melwyn Prakash Noronha has been appointed as the Christian Marriage Registrar for Dakshina Kannada District by the Government of Karnataka. Nowadays Registration of marriages is compulsory under certain Government norms.
Born in Kulshekar, Mangalore in 1967, Melwyn did his Law education at the S.D.M. Law College affiliated to Mangalore University with ranks in both B.A.(Law) and LL.B. He has secured First Rank in English Typewriting in the State of Karnataka.
Melwyn has been practising law in Mangalore nearly for 2 decades and today he is one of the prominent lawyers of Mangalore. He represents various Organisations, Financial Institutions and other Religious as well as Charitable Institutions besides a large number of individual clients..
Melwyn was elected as Director of M.C.C. Bank at the young age of 24 years and youngest ever Director of M.C.C. Bank Ltd., so also elected as Chairman of M.C.C. Bank Ltd., at the young age of 29 years and youngest ever elected Chairman of the Bank. He served the Bank as Director for 10 years and as Chairman for about 3 years.
Melwyn has conducted over 100 free Legal Aid Seminars. He was honoured with “JAYCEE Award” in 2000 for his outstanding performance in the field of Social Service. He has also served as Lecturer at SDM Law College, Mangalore. He was the founder President of Catholic Sabha, Kulshekar.
Melwyn serves as the Governing Board Member of Catholic Board of Education, Diocese of Mangalore and also Advisory Committee Member of Family Counseling Centre.
