Mangalore, May 28: JD (S) spokes person Y S V Datta condemned the campaigning style of former union minister C M Ibrahim for the Ullal by-election, here on Monday May 28 evening.
Speaking at a media conference, he said that Ibrahim had been continuously abusing JD (S) leader Deve
Gowda and using very inappropriate language. The party has observed the video clippings of Ibrahims’ speech. Legal experts would be consulted over filing a complaint against him with the election commission, he said.
Replying to the allegations of Ibrahim, he said, “Yes, Deve Gowda could be sleeping. Obviously Congress is concerned about him, for they know what the situation for Congress could be if he wakes up," he quipped.
At the same time he clarified that Deve Gowda had not come down for election campaign at Ullal, since he had been concentrating on the Goa assembly elections. About 30% voters in Goa are Kannadigas. Hnce, 12 candidates have been fielded there. The Kannadigas would support JD (S) there, keeping in mind the atrocities committed on them at Baina a few years ago, he said.
Speaking about the state minister Iqbal Ansari’s controversial statement that chief minister Kumaraswamy would continue after the completion of his part of the term, he said that they were Ansari's personal opinions and not the party's. The agreement was between deputy chief minister Yadiyurappa and Kumaraswamy while forming the coalition government. Only they can decide about the future of the government, he clarified.
JD (S) district president Balaraj Rai, JD (S) leaders M B Sadashiva, Dr Ibrahim, Shafi Chemnad, J S Noronha and others were present at media meet.
