MUMBAI, May 29: An anonymous caller has warned airport security officials here of "some incident", prompting authorities to step up vigil.
"The international airport manager and our deputy commandant received a call yesterday afternoon warning that there can be some incident at the Mumbai airport," a spokesperson of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said.
He said that the calls were made from a public telephone booth in Mumbai itself but refused to divulge further details.
"You cannot say it is a threat to blow up the airport or a warning about any sabotage activity. He has just said that there can be some incident at the airport," the spokesperson said.
"We are taking the calls seriously and special measures have been taken," he said without elaborating.
Mumbai has two airports-- the domestic airport is situated in the north-west suburb of Santacruz and the Chhatrapti Shivaji International Airport in nearby Sahar.
Some unidentified person had threatened to blow up the World Trade Centre twin towers last week while some caller also warned of attacks in the Film City in north-west suburb of Goregaon the very next day.
