SJVNLA's Q1 profit up 25.53 percent


New Delhi, July 30 (IANS): With an increase in installed capacity, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVNL) has recorded a 24.53 percent increase in net income during the first quarter of this fiscal, it was announced here on Thursday.

The net income increased to Rs.920.35 crore from Rs.739.08 crore earned during the corresponding quarter in the last financial year.

During the last financial year, the company commissioned the 412 MW Rampur hydropower station in Himachal Pradesh and the 47.6 MW Khirwire wind power project in Maharashra.

Moreover, there was increase of 22.19 percent in electricity generation from its maiden 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydro power station in Kinnaur district of Himachal.

While the company's profit after tax increased 14.17 percent from Rs.424.29 crore to Rs.484.43 crore, the profit before tax grew 15.12 percent from Rs.516.37 crore to Rs.594.47 crore, the company said in a statement.

The company's earning per share during the quarter increased from Rs.1.03 to Rs.1.17.

The financial results of the company were declared at a meeting of the board of directors held here.

The SJVNL has already diversified in the field of wind power, thermal power and power transmission. It is presently generating 2,000 MW of electricity.
