Beltangady, May 30: The government should enact some laws to save farmers from various problems, said Dr D Virendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthal.
He was speaking after inaugurating state-level ‘seed conservation fest’ on Tuesday May 29 at Dharmasthala here.
Action should be taken to control the rate of agricultural seeds and pesticides and also should take actions against the sellers of duplicate seeds, poor quality fertilizers etc., he urged.
MLA Prabhakar Bangera inaugurated the programme. Dr Vanajaram, director of Green Peace Foundation, Claud Alvares, environmentalist from Goa and Challa, progressive farmer from Tamil Nadu were speaking on the occasion.
Dr L H Manjunath welcomed the gathering. Krishnaprasad delivered the introductory remarks. Manorama Bhat proposed vote of thanks. Shrihari compered the programme.
