Mangaluru, Aug 3: ICYM city deanery presented ‘The Glorious Show’ at Cordel church hall, Kulshekar here on Sunday August 2. The show was organized with the noble cause of helping children affected with Aids.
The show also marked the 20th anniversary of Glorious band. On the same occasion, ‘Manasa’, a Konkani telefilm was released by Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.
Speaking on the occasion Walter Nandalike, Editor-in-chief of Daijiworld media said "Today on the occasion of Manasa telefilm being launched, it reminds me of Maxim's 'Manasa' song. It is one of the best songs in Konkani. In the past 20 years maxim has given a lot of contribution to Konkani and we acknowledge his contribution. Today he has given another gift of telefilm to Konkani. Let us all support him by buying this DVD. Today ICYM's youngsters are doing a great job for a good cause. when I was also part of ICYM some 25 years back. Today's youngsters are doing more than what we did those days.I congratulate them for their efforts."
RoY Castelino said "Today we are celebrating for two reasons. One is 20th anniversary of Glorious band and another is the launch of Manasa telefilm. In spite of 3 Konkani programmes today, such a huge crowed has gathered here. I am really happy to this as the president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy. I think this is a golden period for Konkani language. This shows good future for Konkani. Daijiworld has grown to such a level because of the hard work of Walter Nandalike. The Konkani film industry should follow in the footsteps of Daijiworld and grow the same way. Maxim has put lot of hard work and made this movie. I congratulate him and ICYM for conducting this event and wish that Manasa becomes a big success."
Speaking at the occasion Fr Victor Machado, parish priest of Cordel church said "Maxim requested me to conduct this programme and I agreed. I congratulate him for conducting such a nice event. I congratulate ICYM for their efforts in conducting this programme. I also congratulate cast and crew of Manasa telefilm. Roy Castelino is working hard to promote and popularize Konkani and I appreciate his efforts and contribution for Konkani."
Alwyn Sequeira was felicitated at the occasion and presented with the title 'Melody master'. Maxim Periera was also felicitated at the occasion by ICYM city deanery for his contribution to Konkani.
Mithesh Crasta, president ICYM city deanery welcomed the gathering and Maxim Periera thanked the gathering while Sheldon Crasta and Roshan Paldane compered the event.
The musical evening began with a song by Ashwin D'costa, Soad 4 finalist. Other singers like Prakash D'souza, Priya Menezes, Jacqueline Fernandes, Shilpa Cuttinho and others enthralled the gathering with beautiful renditions of evergreen songs. Team Kushaali Kinnigoli added a generous dose of humour with skits during the intervals.
'Manasa' telefilm is another milestone in Maxim Pereira's career. It was his dream project. The cast and crew are entirely from coastal districts. The film is of one hour duration.The film has been written and produced by Maxim Pereira and directed by Clarence Pinto Padil. Prathap Menezes and Sinol Menezes are seen in lead roles. Patson Pereira is the music director and Shrikanth is the cinematographer.
Fr George Crasta, director ICYM city deanery, Fr Anil Lobo, assistant parish priest of Cordel church, Fr Ronald D'souza, director of ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Alwyn, president ICYM, Michael D'souza, secretary of pastoral parish council were the dignitaries on the dais among others.
