Mangaluru: Theft at Apple showroom, products worth Rs 20 lac stolen

Mangaluru, Aug 3: Thieves broke into Maple store, the premium showroom for Apple products, located at Balmatta here and decamped with items approximately worth Rs 20 lac.

The theft occured at around 2.30 am on Monday August 3, police sources said.

CCTV footage revealed that three persons gained entry into the store by breaking open an electricity service board.

It is learnt that there was burglar alarm fitted on the products, and as soon as the siren went off, the security agency in Mumbai received an alert. The manager of the store was then informed by the Mumbai security agency officials.

However, by the time the manager and the police arrived at the spot, the thieves had already fled with the loot. The total worth of the stolen products is estimated at Rs 20 lac.

Fingerprint experts and canine squad were also called to the spot.

Kadri police are investigating.

    Looks like the burglary has been done with the help of some insiders, most probably the maintenance staff who definitely knew about the most 'vulnerable' point to gain entry!!

    Am surprised, despite an alarm being sounded in Mumbai H.O., there was no instantaneous action from their counterparts here as the way the shop has been ransacked it definitely might have taken a good period of time!!! Jai Mangluru!!

    Hi,

    Guess an eye opener for the security guys to have a alert possible within the region instead of a siren alerting the security guys in Mumbai for a theft in Mangalore.

    Reproducing what was mentioned... "as soon as the siren went off, the security agency in Mumbai received an alert."

    Unless we educate local populace about strangers(non origin of twin districts) these incidents will continues. I request the print media as well as electronic media and social groups should take this matter seriously. Before police arrival these thieves already in train towards their destination. (northern parts of india)

    Thieves would be caught sooner or later because apple products are unique and special.

    For example, if anyone uses the stolen I-phones, Apple has the special features to identify the user's location and I am sure it would be an easy job for the Police to trace the culprits.

    Some one from inside, that is present staff or ex-staff is having hand in this theft. Only staff could know exact location of exhaust fan and how it can be dismantled from outside.

    Many things are not in faour of Mangalore today.
    1. Lots of outside workforce, non-office, but skilled labour
    2. Exorbitant life style of the ordinary - young and not so young.
    3. Addiction to ... many things, which requires quick money at any risk.

    What is happening in M'lore ? Though CCTV and theft alarm were set, these guys managed to escape with the loot. How much more one can do to protect their business or homes ? Its time that cops need to increase the night beats before its going to be too much.
