Kundapur: One killed, another injured in bike-tempo collision

Kundapur, Aug 3: One person was killed on the spot and another seriously injured in a collision between a goods tempo and a bike near the railway bridge at Kattbeltur near Hemmady here on Monday August 3.

Surendra Ganiga (32), a resident of Katte, Hemmady was killed in the accident while Sampath Poojary (26), son of Ramadurga Poojary sustained serious injuries.

Surendra was sitting pillion while Sampath was riding the bike. They were riding towards Kollur when goods tempo collided head-on with their Pulsar bike, killing Surendra on the spot.

Sampath who was seriously injured was rushed to a private hospital.

Son of Annappa Ganiga, Surendra had got married just eight onths ago. He was working in Kollur temple and five months ago, he had set up a shamiyana business on partnership.

MLA Gopal Poojary visited the spot.

Kundapur traffic police arrived and registered a case.

    RIP his soul,
    But the bike in question is the newly launched Pulsar 7. And since it's launch I've seen many non accidental crashes like handle break tyre spoke fell apart n many more. We must b more cautious wen we buy a newly launched vehicle. Safety must never be compromised on the cost of Style. .

    Orphan dead body. All are silent spectators.Life is precious than bikes. Youths open your eyes.Even no job youths also possessing bikes at every house and many of them taking parts in unnecessary communal rallies, political rallies.Every day bikers are dying we do not not know whos turn today.

    The bikes of old were not so capable and you would chug along the roads whose conditions have hardly changed even today.I now see many young guys riding their super bikes with elan without a bother to themselves and others.
    More often than not, its young blood, raging hormones, their super toys which they cannot control and bad roads makes this a deadly cocktail.Very sad so many young ones are succumbing.

    Cannot blame traffic rules.....

    The problem is from new bikes which doesn't suit to our roads, and the riders who don't have control on this new model bikes.

    I really dont understand why people are so crazy about this super bikes, these bikes will force you to drive like a maniac, moreover they doesnt fit to the kind of roads we have ( Less road more pot holes ). Please guys avoid these kind of vehicles and be carefull while riding..your life mannot be valuable for you..but it definately means a lot in others life..RIP.

    Mr.Farooq...it is not a superbike..!! It is just a Pulsar bike...with 200cc !!! It Might not have been a fault of the bike or the rider at all...may be the tempo guy lost control and hit the bike ...why always bikers are held responsible for any kind of accident? I have seen many auto..tempo...bus...car...trucks...and what not are responsible for a bikers accident...just because one rides a bike or a superbike bike will not make them reponsible for an accident...it is the the road users who need to learn how to drive or ride on the roads..stop blaming the machinary....it does what it is said to do !!!!

    In India traffic rules must be changed to punish guilty like Gulf. There should be compensation for the victim. Here all heavy traffic roads must be converted to one way. Land should be acquired for this purpose. Humps must be installed every 3 KM like Bangalore Mysore road. We don't want to give land for road widening (eg. Padubedri), but sad to know heavy loss of young life in traffic accident. Useless politicians good for nothing.
