Mumbai, Aug 5 (Mumbai Mirror): The police's social service branch on Monday busted a prostitution racket in Andheri West and rescued two women, including a TV actress. The police also booked and arrested the pimp, who works as a casting director. The police had received a tip-off about an agent who supplied women to customers in hotels. The cops sent a man posing as a customer to Sinha. The rescued women were sent to a shelter home for counselling, and Rs 5,000 was recovered from them. Sources said that one of them has worked in several popular TV shows in the recent past. A case was registered against Sinha at the Amboli police station under relevant sections of the IPC and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The cops also busted a similar racket and arrested a man while he was trying to supply two women near the Sea Land Store on Carter Road, Bandra West. The accused allegedly lured customers through a website, which led the police to him. He was arrested on the spot and Rs 22,000, two mobile phones and a car were recovered from him.
